Camping in Upstate NY: Reunited with the Tucks and Hortons!

Reunited, Back to nature with the Tucks and Martinelli/Hortons!
Soooo good to be back outdoors with our old friends, ever since age 2.
Nothing like boys whittling with sharp knives

Catching up after over a year apart
Checking to see who's grown faster

How I missed my Courtney!
A blemish on nature

Baby turtle, strayed from the lake

Cradling baby turtle

Awww!

Ken is the best in the water, after developing his aqua play skills for a year as the stay-at-home dad with resort pool in Asia

Our two leaky tents, given to us for free by Bruce, extras his boy scout group were getting rid of. By the end of this trip, they had been hit by a surprise battering ram of a storm, which arrived the next day, blowing our tents up into the air and dealing them their final blows. You can probably still find them in a dumpster upstate. After returning from Asia to an earthquake in NYC, a hurricane in LI, and a storm involving our needing to evacuate our campsite upstate, we were wondering our Mother Nature felt about our return home.

Everyone was dying for a campfire, after over a year without. Graeme was our most devoted, diligent camp fire blower, like Alice, patiently dedicating hours to completing a project.

Maybe blowing will make this fire rise like a phoenix out of its failed ashes

Tomatillos for the traditional O'Neal-Freeman campfire fajitas

And, the traditional Matthew Tuck EXCELLENT liquor camping closet - with a surprise visit by Ken and my 20-year-long love -- Grgich Hills Cabernet!

Many y chromosomes, and much male fretting later, the fire finally took and the boys in the family stayed by its side until the wee hours of the morning.

Boom learned fire blowing techniques from Graeme
And, finally, after a painful wait, Leo and Radley arrive, with Leo not leaving Boom's side for the rest of the camping trip.

And, the ultimate product of the blood sweat and ashes of a campfire -- s'mores!
Typically beautifully organized Tuck campsite
Much contested monopoly games
Jawbone found on our hike

Batman as our nature guide

Radley, Ken and Matthew chatting on the field we found
A field filled with bales of hay
Leo, framed by a bale
Well-captured action shot, Courtney!
