Long-lost Friends, reunited after over a year and a half - reinstating the annual Christmas sleepover chez Wardle Lopez

Our godson Danny! He's a shocking 12 years old now. Such a role model for my boys -- how to be a dedicated athlete, student, gentle and kind to younger kids, and how to wear a floppy mop of hair, better than the Beatles.

Manuel, who we adore, nearly fresh from running the NYC marathon with Tami, serving drinks up with the typical elegant force of a Venezuelan host. We love celebrating the Christmas season with our old, old friends at their warmly decorated home.

Ken and Manuel could talk for hours, like me and Tami. And like their daughter Claudia and our Alice. All of our boys could play together for hours without talking at all, happiest of all probably.

I love the brilliant hostessing idea of these Beef Wellington shortcuts that look even more elegant than the original. Just pop sauteed mushrooms and cheese into phyllo dough, freeze, then serve up with pate on top. Eh, voila!

And, the requisite champagne to ring in the holidays

Alice's beloved "cousin" Claudia

And, of course, the warm fire to sit beside for our appetizers

Oh my, what's the exhausted Nonny is eating for breakfast???

What?!? Who serves their children Baked Alaska with ice cream for breakfast?

Happy kids, silent with eating

Conneticut coast, wind-whipped

Awww, happy new family pooch!

Avid football player, with his team winning the championship!

Tami Sue, vibrant as ever!

And, the long-awaited gift exchange! Note the men playing guitar in the background. Typical. Oh, do I sound like Scrooge? Scratch that.

Happy boom, with his balloon-animal-making kit

Alice, bejeweled and adorned in pink.
