The story behind this Doonesbury gift requested by Ken -- I'd given away to charity all of his precious Doonesbury collection. In my defense, I'd ask him to check if he wanted to keep any of the books in the basement, and he refused to go down and check before I gave them away. That doesn't seem to stop him from telling the story repeatedly, the rest of our marriage, as one spectacular, compelling complaint.

Nanny got Alice loads of shoes with heels, as requested by the princess.

I got everyone flannel pajamas with dogs on them, that were the spitting image of Patrick/Brendan's dog Serena and our dog Shadow.
